How to Measure yourself for our work
We ask for measurements for any custom work, and below is our preferred measurement chart! For best practice, measure with a flexible sewing tape and only tight to where it is COMFORTABLE, but still snug. Our materials have give to them, so you will have more space than you would think.
For fullsuits, we can take either a DTD and measurements, or measurements only. With measurements only, however, we cannot guarantee a perfect fit just due to error with measurements from client side. If you can, please have someone measure you who has experience with cosplay or tailoring clothing. We prefer having a DTD in order to compare measurements to, and to further tailor your suit to fit your body properly!
What does the inside look like?
We pride ourselves on our quilting start, so we have lots of practice with sewing! A fursuit is no different, we just have some extra standards to enforce.
For starters, our faces and ears are either fully sewn and glued down or glued down, then stretched and sewn where applicable (depending on what application works best). Necks are always machine sewn to the best of our abilities, with a zipper down the back or side for easy on-off and internal servicing. Toony heads are fully lined. Realistics are not, but the seams are “finished” where they touch skin. Both styles feature a pocket in the front of the neck, and an adjustable strap system for best fit. Where we can, we will also include padding to further make it easier to get it to fit right. Both styles feature plenty of space in the muzzle for a fan to help circulate air within the head. Where we can, we will also add additional vents for better airflow, like in the ears. On toony faces, we preshave the pieces in order to get a smooth finish where we can, but we do not do that on realistic faces. Some materials just do not want to cooperate, so we will make that determination before cutting any of the fur.
Toony hands are always lined where we are able to. We will always try to incorporate “finger escapes” so you are able to access what you need to before taking your hands off. Realistic hands are lined where possible, but are cuffed when properly sized. If resin claws are desired, we will attach the liner to them via adhesive and then install the liner AND claws at one time to help lower the risk of losing them. Realistic hands will have either mochi minky threadsculpted pawpads or slim silicone pads where we are able to make them. If possible, we will sew the pads down, but if not, we will glue them down with adhesive to the best of our abilities. We will add an elastic loop to the bottom of our handpaws to make getting them on easier.
Our feetpaws are always lined. They can be made on shoes when requested. Our soles are antifatigue mat and rubber unless indoor soles are requested. They feature a sandal strap system made from elastic to hold your foot in place, and a pullstrap to make wear easier to get in. Zippers are on the side of the liner to make stuffing easier, and at the top of the foot if part of a fullsuit order.
Our tails have a foam “butt” with at least two straps where we can, with a zipper to attach to a bodysuit where applicable, otherwise they will have two loops at the “butt” end. Zippers are installed when tails are large, and at the base of the tail at the “butt” to make unstuffing easier. We stuff our tail with a gradient of firmness, firmest at the base and softest at the tip of the tail.
Our bodysuits are not lined where we can avoid doing so. We are in the process of making removable padding pants our standard, as we are finding they are much easier to travel with and wash. These have “stirrups” that you slide your heel into, and straps to sit on your belt to keep them where they need to stay. Front entry zipper, a pocket in each thigh, a pocket in the front chest, and zippers for feet/tail attachment are standard. Leg, arm, and neck holes are all cuffed to avoid stretching, and the zippers are lined to avoid fur being caught when in use. We will finish the seam edges to make them more comfortable to wear, and to prolong life of your suit.
Our arm and leg sleeves are lined unless form fit, like if they were made from stretch fur.
ALL of our seams are reinforced where we can do so, or where necessary. We backstitch and reinforce our stitching every four inches so that way in the event that a seam pops somehow, you have time to fix the issue. Where possible, we employ our embroidery or serger/seam finishing machine to make our work as pretty and neat (and strong!) as possible.
Number of seams popped since 2015… 0. :)
